Colorado Avalanche Tickets - Flurry Loss Before All-Star Break
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009Robert asked:
he Avalanche? Team forwards include Tyler Arnason, Chris Durno, Ben Guite, Milak Hejduk, T.J. Hensick, David Jones, Ian Laperriere, Cody McCormick, Cody McLeod, Joe Sakic, Ryan Smith, Paul Stastny, Chris Stewart, Marek Svatos, Darcy Tucker, Brian Willsie and Wojtek Wolski. Team defensemen include Brett Clark, Kyle Cumiskey, Adam Foote, Scott Hannan, Jordan Leopold, John-Michael Liles, Ruslan Salei and Daniel Tjarngvist. Rounding out the team are goalies Peter Budaj and Andrew Raycroft. The 2008 draft picks for the Avalanche include Cameron Gaunce, Peter Delmas, Kelsey Tessier, Mark Olver, Joel Chouinard, Jonas Holos and Nathan Condon. The promising players hailed from OHL Mississauga St. Michael’s, QMJHL Lewiston and Quebec as well as Victoriaville, CCHA Northern Michigan and NORWAY Sarpsborg. Spearheading the coaching side is head coach Tony Granato. Working closely with Granato are assistant coach Jacques Cloutier, assistant coach Dave Barr, goaltending coach Jeff Hackett, video coordinator PJ Deluca, strengthening and conditioning coach Paul Goldberg, inventory manager Wayne Fleming, head equipment manager Mark Miller, assistant equipment manager Cliff Halstead and assistant equipment manager Kurt Harvey. Head athletic trainer Matthew Sokolowski, assistant athletic trainer/physical therapist Scott Woodward and massage therapist Gregorio Pradera also play very important roles. So what’s the rest of the season’s games look like for the Avalanche? In January, the Avalanche will face off against the Sharks, Maple Leafs and Ducks on their own ice. If it’s away the Avalanche want, in February they’ll be traveling to play away games as visitors on the ice against the Blues, Blue Jackets, Wild, Red Wings, Capitals, Hurricanes, Thrashers, Devils and Rangers. A few home games sit on the other side of the scale when the Avalanche will host games against the Flames, Stars, Canadiens and Senators during the month. In March there are more home games schedule for the Avalanche as they host the Red Wings, Thrashers, Wild, Oilers, Ducks and Canucks on their own ice. Away games for March are schedule to include trips to play against the Islanders, Blackhawks, Oilers, Canucks, Wild, Sharks and Ducks. In April, the Coyotes, Stars, Canucks and Blues will travel to Colorado to play against the Avalanche; the latter game with the Blue closing out the season on Sunday, April 12. The balance of the April games will be away and against the Canucks and Sharks. The Colorado Avalanche team is current sitting in the 12th seat for the western conference with 23 wins and just as many losses and 1 OT. After the recent loss to the Los Angeles Kings, players Kyle Cumiskey and Chris Durno were reassigned to the Lake Erie Monsters. This in addition to players Laperriere, McCormick, Sakic, Stastny, and Foote who are all on the injured reserve list. Although the team didn’t win the game against the Kings, Wolski was named the Avalanche Play of the Week member for his goal that earned 47.44% of the fans’ votes. After the All-Star break, it remains to be seen how the Avalanche will fair in the conference.
